Birds of Prophecy

Birds of Prophecy

One for bad news,
Two for mirth.

Three is a wedding,
Four is a birth.

Five is for riches,
Six is a thief.

Seven, a journey,
Eight is for grief.

Nine is a secret,
Ten is sorrow.

Eleven is for love,
Twelve, Joy for the morrow.

This is a chant used to divine the events if the coming day based on the amount of birds in the area, depending on species these words are suspect to change.

Poisoned Blood

Hemlock, the fires of pain,
The poisoned lips of Henbane.

Strong and powerful, Aconite,
Belladonna, send us into flight.

Opium, time and space bent like a horn,
The blessed apple of thorn.

Cinquifoil, shrub and flower
Mandragora, causing death to come to power.

This is a simple poem I wrote that I believe sums up the strengths of these herbs. I guess you could use this to help focus the powers of a spell if its for a more malicious means.

To curse those with prying eyes

By the power of Witches and Mages
By the wisdom of Crones and Sages
By the Moon as it moves through its stages
By Hecate and Her lunar rages
By the Sphinx and for the Ages
I craft a curse upon these pages

Personally I have this written on the first page of my grimoire and it seems to work out, bad luck follows those stupid enough to open it without my permission. I would recommend doing this spell on your book during the dark moon or during Samhain, I also recommend recasting it ever year or so.
